Lucas Community Map
The City of Lucas is known for its small town community charm. However, residents still enjoy the conveinance of being close to larger cities. During the 1830s , several families received land grands which encouraged settlement in the area. After the last Indian attack in Collin County in 1844 it became safe to settle in the area. The current population is estimated to be around 7000.
Lucas and Lovejoy ISD
Lovejoy Independent School District currently has 4000 students. These students are within a 17 mile radius that includes Lucas and parts of McKinney and Allen. Lovejoy High School is rated as one of the top 200 high schools in the US for the past 5 years. In addition, StartClass ranked the Lovejoy Independent School District as the #1 public school district in the State of Texas. Moreover, Lovejoy is ranked #5 public school district in the United States in August of 2015.
