In addition to the people parks, the city also maintains The Dog Park at Jack Carter Park . The dog park is a double-gated, fenced, 2-acre area along Bluebonnet Trail, near its intersection with Chisholm Trail. The park has a separate area for large and small dogs with shade shelters, picnic tables, benches, lighting, water stations for dogs and their humans, waste pickup/disposal stations and a dog rinse station. The parking lot is located west of the area approximately a half a block north on Pleasant Valley Drive. The dog park is the only off-leash area designated by the Parks and Recreation Department. Dogs will need to be leased as soon as they exit the park.
The Plano Parks and Trails Map also includes the location of the Plano Stages. Plano Stages is part of the Arts, Culture, and Heritage Division of the Park and Recreation Department. This division manages the Courtyard Theater, Cox Playhouse, McCall Plaza, and Amphitheater at Oak Point Park. In addition, it oversees all events held in each of these locations.
